Your Positivity Reminder

June 6, 2019

Isn’t it crazy how things work out the way they are supposed to? I hate the cliche “everything happens for a reason” but I can’t help but believe in it.

I used to pray for dirty diapers, sleepless nights, and temper tantrums. After struggling with infertility, my husband and I wanted a baby so badly that we would have traded anything to have one, even if he or she strained our sleep patterns, our sanity, and our bank account.

Looking back on this experience, it all feels so surreal. My life isn’t exactly how I pictured it but I am so so happy. And the crazy thing is, I can remember thinking the same exact thing and feeling the same exact way at multiple points in my life.

When I was preparing to graduate college, I stressed about finding a job but everything eventually fell into place. I then randomly ended up quitting my job in college athletics and things still worked out. Soon after, I wanted to return to working in sports full-time and that worked out, too. As soon as I stopped panicking about our fertility issues, we were blessed with the most perfect baby.

Things haven’t happened the way I expected them to or even wanted them to, but they happened. My life isn’t what I pictured or planned for, sure, but not a day goes by that I don’t feel like the luckiest person on the planet.

If you’re struggling, I’m here to tell you that good things are coming your way. Good things DO happen to good people. Stay positive, work hard, and believe that everything will turn out okay. There will always be things to worry about and life will probably always be at least a tad bit stressful, but everything is going to be fine. You are going to excel. Things might not seem great now but you’re rounding a corner and there are new and awesome things on the horizon. I promise.

Everyone has their share of hardships, and I don’t mean to minimize any that you might be going through, but it’s important to remember that the good will always outweigh the bad. Focus on things and opportunities that make you happy and you’ll find that a positive perspective can literally change your life.
